Young people from different dioceses, schools and organizations underwent a special preparatory session for the World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 16-28, 2013 which will be attended by hundreds of thousands of young people from around the world. The WYD is held every year in the local dioceses and every two or three years internationally and will be attended by the Holy Father. It was held at the Joy Center of Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati City last July 6-7, 2013.
The session aimed to prepare all the delegates of the ECY-Philippines before their trip to Brazil. Spiritual, formative and practical matters were shared during the two-day event. And it revolved in the theme of this year’s WYD: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” (Mt. 28:18) All in all there are 176 pilgrims registered with the Episcopal Commission on Youth of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines and the ECY also extended assistance to 10 International Volunteers.
Our very own Diocesan Youth Coordinator attended the said event for he is a member of the International Volunteers Group who will assist in the organization of the World Youth Day.
The event was also graced with the presence of some ECY Bishops. Bishop Joel Z. Baylon, the ECY Chairman and Bishop of Legazpi presided over the send-off Mass for the entire delegation.
Let us pray for the success of the World Youth Day and for all Filipino pilgrims who will be attending.
