Mary Help of Christians Parish
VISION

Isang sambayanang may matatag na pananampalataya at aktibong nagpapalaganap at nagsasabuhay ng salita ng Diyos tungo sa kabanalan sa pamamagitan ng pagdadamayan at pagpapahalaga sa buhay ng bawat pamilya.

MISSION

Pagpapalaganap ng Salita ng Diyos sa mga nasasakupan ng parokya at pagsasagawa ng mga programang magpapalalim ng pananampalataya habang tumutulong sa pagpapaunlad at pagpapahalaga ng buhay ng bawat pamilya.

BEGINNINGS

Noong 1984, si Sister Adelaida Rueda Violago ng Good Shepherd Convent ay may kapirasong lupa sa Barangay Malasin sa San Jose City. Kusang loob niyang inialok kay Bishop Cinense ang kaniyang lote na may sukat na mahigit na 2,000sq. meters na minana niya sa kanyang magulang para mapagtayuan ng tahanan ng Obispo at ng isang bagong simbahan sa lungsod ng San Jose.

Matapos ang pagtanggap ni Bishop Cinense sa nasabing donasyon ni Sis. Aida, nagsimula sa pagpapatayo ng bakod ng Bishop’s House, ay napag-usapan ni Bishop Cinense at ni Dr. Eling Violago ang pagpapatayo ng simbahan. Isang arkitekto sa katauhan ni Arch. Dolores Oca Yason ang nagbigay ng walang bayad ng isang plano o disenyo para sa ipapatayong simbahan.

Ang Bishop’s House ay natapos at nabasbasan noong Oktubre 26, 1985. Noong Nobyembre 30, 1986 naitalaga si Bishop Cinense bilang Bishop sa Tarlac. Bagamat Obispo na siya sa Tarlac ay sakop pa rin ang pangangasiwa sa Diocese ng San Jose bilang Apostolic Administrator.

Nang si Bishop Leo M. Drona ay maitalaga bilang Obispo ng San Jose noong Hunyo 10, 1987 at maordinahan noong Hulyo 25, 1987 at maitalaga noong Agosto 15, 1987, nag-umpisa na ang konstruksiyon at nakaporma na ang post eng itinatayong simbahan.

Matapos ang pagpapagawa ng simbahan, kinausap ni Bishop Drona si Dr. Eling Violago at isinangguni na ang maging patron ng bagong simbahan ay Mary Help of Christians na agad namang sinangayunan ni Dr. Violago.

Ang mga unang naglingkod na pari sa Mary Help of Christians ay sina Rev. Fr. Jojo San Juan, SDB., sumunod si Rev. Fr. Albar Kato, SDB., at saka si Rev. Fr. Edwin Bravo.

Noong Oktubre 24, 2000, idineklara ni Bishop Drona na maging quasi-parish ang Mary Help of Christians. Siya bilang Obispo ng Diocese ang tumayong kura paroko at itinalaga niya si Rev. Fr. Peter Albino, Jr. bilang administrator.

Sa hindi inaasahang pagkakataon, si Bishop Drona ay naglipat sa Diocese ng San Pablo noong Hunyo 18, 2004 at magmula noon, si Msgr. Rolando Mabutol ang naging Diocesan Administrator at kura paroko ng Mary Help of Christians. Si Rev. Peter Albino, Jr. pa rin ang administrator.

Dahil sa kawalan ng bahay na matitirhan ng pari, hindi ganap na magawang parokya ang Mary Help of Christians. Sa pagnanais ng Knights of Columbus na maging ganap na parokya ang Mary Help of Christians ay nagbigay ang Mary Help of Christians Foundation na pinangangasiwaan ng Knights of Columbus San Jose Council 4073 ng pondo para sa pagpapatayo ng isang bagong tahanan para sa Obispo at ang lumang Bishop’s House ay para naman sa maitatatlagang bagong pari ng Mary Help of Christians.

Noong May 14, 2005 naitalagang Obispo ng Diocese of San Jose si Most Rev. Mylo Hubert Vergara DD STD, at siya ring tumayong kura paroko ng MHC. Itinalaga niya bilang administrator si Rev. Fr. Michael Grospe noong May 16, 2005. Ipinatayo rin ang Pairish Pastoral Hall at rectory ng MHC na binasbasan naman noong October 23, 2005 sa pagdiriwang ng kaarawan ni Bp. Vergara.

Noong Abril 24, 2006, ay itinatag ni Bp. Vergara bilang isang ganap na parokya ang MHC kasabay nito ang pagtatalaga kay rev. Fr. Getty A. Ferrer bilang kauna-unahang kura paroko. Ang bagong parokya ay sumasakop sa mga sumusunod na brgy ng lungsod ng San Jose; Malasin, Kita-Kita, Tayabo, Manicla, Kaliwanagan, Villa Marina, San Agustin at Villa Floresta.

TERRITORIAL BOUNDARIES

Mary Help of Christians Parish is made up of eight (8) different barangays namely: Brgy. Malasin, Brgy. Kita-Kita, Brgy. Manicla, Brgy. Tayabo, Brgy. Villa Floresta, Brgy. San Agustin, Brgy. Kaliwanagan at Brgy. Villa Marina.

Barangay Malasin is located within the vicinity of the poblacion area; hence it is classified as an urban barangay. It is bounded by Brgy. Kita-Kita in the north, Brgy. Rafael Rueda and F.E. Marcos in the south, Brgy. Sto. Niño in the west, Brgy. San Agustin in the east. The barangay covers land area of 630.73 hectares. It has a total inhabitants of 4,948 considered as the fifth most populated barangay in the city of San Jose. The population of the barangay is distributed over 7 sitios / zone.

Brgy. Kita-Kita is located 4 kilometers northeast of the city’s poblacion area; hence it is classified as a rural barangay. It is bounded by Barangay Malasin in the southwest, Barangay Villa Floresta in the northwest, Barangay Kaliwanagan in the southeast, and Barangay Manicla in the east. The barangay covers a land area of 624 hectares. It has a total of 3,992 inhabitants. The population of the barangay is distributed over 17 sitios/zones.

Brgy. Manicla is located 5 kilometers northeast of the city’s poblacion area; hence it is classified as a rural barangay. It is bounded by Barangay Tayabo in the northeast, Barangay Kita-Kita in the southwest and Barangay Villa Floresta in the northwest. The barangay covers a land area of 515,084 hectares. A total inhabitant of 1,668. The population is distributed 6 sitios/zones.

Brgy.Tayabo is located 7 kilometers northeast of the city’s poblacion area; hence it is classified as a rural barangay. It is bounded by Brgy. Kaliwanagan in the southeast, Brgy. Villa Floresta in the northwest, Brgy. Kita-Kita in the southeast, and municipality of Carranglan in the north. The barangay covers a land area of 1,073.71 hectares. It has a total inhabitants of 3,889. It’s population is distributed over 13 sitios/zones.

Brgy. Villa Floresta is located 8 kilometers northeast of the city’s poblacion area; hence it is classified as a rural barangay. It is bounded by Brgy. Kita-Kita in the southeast, municipality of Carranglan in the north and municipality of Lupao in the west. It has a total inhabitant of 160. It’s population is distributed over 4 sitios/ zones.

Brgy. San Agustin is located 3 kilometers northeast of the city’s poblacion area, classified as a rural barangay. It is bounded by Brgy. Kaliwanagan in the northeast, Brgy. Palestina in the south, Brgy. Culaylay in the east and Brangay Malasin in the northwest. It has a total inhabitants of 2,368. It’s population is distributed over 8 sitios/zone.

Brgy. Kaliwanagan is located 5.5 kilometers northeast of the city’s poblacion area, classified as a rural barangay. Bounded by Brgy. Tayabo in the north, Brgy. San Agustin in the southwest, Brgy. Villa Marina in the south and municipality of Pantabangan in the east. It covers a land area of 770.97 hectares with the total of 2,179 inhabitants and it is distributed over 6 sitios.

Brgy. Villa Marina is located 7 kilometers east of the city’s poblacion area; classified as a rural barangay. It is bounded by Brgy. San Agustin in the northwest, Brgy. Kaliwanagan in the north and Brgy, Culaylay in the southwest. It covers a land area of 457.29 hectares, a total inhabitant of 1,666 and is distributed over 6 sitios/zones.

FAMILY AND LIFE

  • Nangangalaga sa ugnayan at kapayapaan ng pamilya at pagpapanitili ng kabanalan ng buhay sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng mga seminar, family counselling programs at outreach programs.

YOUTH

  • Nagbibigay ng kaukulang paghuhubog sa mga kabataan.
